The Dooagh Day Card Game night for beginners and regulars of our National Card Game - 25 will take place in Lourdie's, Dooagh on Friday 12th January at 9pm.

Dooagh Day Fun Table Quiz - December 1st 2017

At the Dooagh Day AGM it was decided by those present to hold a series of social nights to get the community together. It was decided that the first event would be a fun table quiz. The quiz was well attended and thanks to Johnny for hosting us in Lourdie's. Jackie & Joan Cafferkey, Marty and Andrea Kilbane won the night in a tense tie breaker involving JJ & Theresa McNamara, David Callaghan and Katie Kane. Both teams were presented with prizes on the night. Our secretary Kate O'Malley and Quizmaster on the night also celebrated her birthday with a cake which was shared to everyone!

Dooagh Day 2017 - Lá Dhú Acha 2017

Dooagh Day festivities began with the opening of our ever popular museum and slideshow of old photographs, music was provided by Scoil Acla once again this year. 2017 saw the 70th Anniversary of the founding of our pipe band so special attention was paid to that this year in Abha Teangaí. This was followed by a welcome home night in Gielty's. On Saturday night, Dooagh Day hosted a dance and nite club with all proceeds going to Dooagh Pipe Band on this anniversary year, Ballina band "Flat Out" played a few tunes for the crowd before DJ Sean Molloy went on. Dooagh Day on Sunday was a little misty but nothing could dampen our spirits as hundreds gathered at the dock to witness the now annual currach races - this year the victors were Noreen Gallagher and Maeve Cafferkey in the Ladies' race and Brian McNamara & Johnny "The Pub" Cafferkey in the men's race. We attempted the World Record Rock the Boat in aid of Achill RNLI with over 350 people down on the ground rocking away! Lourdie's hosted the presentation night for the Currach racing winners with DJ Tommy English spinning hits from the 70s, 80s & 90s. Dooagh Day 2016 - Lá Dhú Acha 2016

Unfortunately Dooagh Day 2016 was a bit of a washout - both times we tried to stage it! But we didn't let it dampen the spirits! On Friday night we opened the Dooagh Museum with music from Scoil Acla and Refreshments - followed by a sing-song in Gielty's where the special cocktails were flowing. Saturday night saw the return of Ireland's Finest Rebel Band to the Wavecrest Hotel - The Rebel Hearts, safe to say they blew the roof off the place! The weather didn't permit any outdoor activity on Sunday but we made the most of it with a kids day with Richie Kavanagh in Gielty's and Cian and Gordon entertaining the crowds in Lourdie's, followed by Richie, Elvis and Johnny Keegan!

Dooagh Day 2015 - Lá Dhú Acha 2015

Our inaugural Dooagh Day which took place on Sunday 12th July could not have gone much better. The weather was great, the support from the community was brilliant! Music provided by local musicians, great food and even better craic! Currach racing winners were Brian McNamara & Tommo McNamara Walsh for the Men and Gracie Cafferkey & Christina McNamara in the ladies race. Photography by Michael Donnelly.
